System for acoustic data collection BOX

The ВОХ system is designated for acoustic data registration to be used as a seismic-prospecting and seismological instrument.

Main functional and engineering designation of the system:

1. Getting seismic data required for:

  - tackling of regional geotectonic problems;

  - geological zoning in the course of hydrocarbon material search;

  - detailed study of structures for making exploratory wells;

  - finding solutions for engineering-geological and geo ecological tasks.

The depth of investigation will depend only on the depth and frequency spectrum of the well.

2. Work in any terrain and climatic conditions including swamps, river basins, lakes and seas with depths up to 30 m. It allows performance of “seamless” survey in different environments, coordinate survey work in adjacent regions, for example, on-sea and on-land and link the surveys to existing wells (work in transit zones).

3. Performance of comprehensive 2D and 3D works of any minuteness and configuration in accordance  with geological tasks  and terrain conditions.

4. It is a telemetric system ensuring high mobility and cost effectiveness of site survey.

5. The system software (mathematical tools) include three programs:

  - OMNI is for optimization of survey planning based on geological tasks, terrain conditions, hardware and financial resources. Details of the initial parameters to be advised by a client in the course of programming.

  - ВОХ is for survey performance: installation, correction and removal of reception lines; identification of a survey routine; drive line shooting; collection of data in real-time mode (if necessary it is possible to store information in modules or radio relay data onto the station – from module to module); on-line testing of the received material quality.

  - APEX, VISTA are for development and fulfilment of numerous sequences (flows) of field material processing; they include: geometric input, editing of seismic records, all kinds of filtration, deconvolution, input of static and kinetic corrections, velocity analysis, stacking, migration, etc.

The system structure

The system consists of the following major elements:

  • Registration station mounted on a ship, car, or a stationery base.
  • A set of self-contained telemetric modules ВОХ which constitute the receiving assembly.

Each module consists of a radio buoy and one or two mini-cables with seismic detectors connected to the buoy – up to eight channels per module. Both hydrophones and groups of geophones can be used as seismic detectors including within the limits of one mini-cable.

Modern equipment, work techniques, expertise of the personnel allow the Sevmorgeo company to work in different geological conditions using both on-land and marine seismic devices as well as to efficiently plan its work and express-processing of field materials, and besides it allows geodetic correlation of received material.
