Main directions / Geo ecological monitoring

In Sevmorgeo the Center for Monitoring of the Shelf Geological Environment (chief of the Center is prof. O.Yu. Korneev, Doctor of Technical Sciences) is in charge of this work; its staff consists of top experts and scientists (5 doctors of sciences and 2 candidate of sciences) in geology, geophysics, nuclear physics, oceanology and hydrogeology.

The Center works for solution of the following major problems:

  1. Monitoring of the geological environment in offshore field zones and regions subjected to active man-caused stimulation. More ……
  2. Chemical and analytical sample testing (of bottom deposits, soils and building materials) of near-bottom waters to identify content of main pollutants. More...
  3. Geophysical survey (lateral view hydrolocation, high resolution seismic acoustic, hydro magnetometry) of underwater pipeline routes and other objects on the shelf bottom. More...
  4. Engineering and geological survey of bottom deposits for identification of their physical and mechanical parameters including size testing. More...
  5. Experimental development of special sampling tools, autonomous geo ecological bottom stations with data transmission to Earth’s man-made satellites as well as development of modified X-ray and spectrum methods for measuring pollutants in bottom deposits More...
