Main directions / Engineering-geological investigation /

The Center performs engineering and geological investigations:

  1. Field work related to description of soils, sorting out samples and monoliths, field identification of soil properties within the system of Russian standards, British Soil Standard BS 1377 and ASTM standards.
  2. Stationary laboratory investigation of soil composition, its state and properties including their grain-size classification, density, moisture content, plasticity, content of organic substances, deformability and strength on compression units, direct section devices and triaxial compression under foreign and Russian standard systems.

Field engineering and geological laboratory

Abovementioned operations are required for:

  • Sub sea pipelining;
  • Construction of sea terminals, wharfage and port installations;
  • On-shore industrial and civil construction;
  • Marine engineering and geological survey in the scale of 1:200.000 and larger;
  • Declaration of hydro engineering structures and engineering operations in the off-shore and on-shore zones;
  • Survey and certification of various on-shore facilities.

The Center performs a number of engineering and geological surveys off-and-on shore (License authorizing performance of engineering survey for construction purposes No Д 286257 dated October 24, 2002).

Investigations include marine engineering surveys required for the following:

  • Substantiation and implementation of monitoring programs for oil-and-gas, port and water engineering facilities that are being designed, under construction or in operation;
  • Marine prospect drilling for oil and gas;
  • Gas and oil field construction;
  • Construction of subsea pipelines;
  • Construction of sea terminals, wharfage and port installations;
  • On-shore industrial and civil engineering;
  • Marine engineering and geological survey in the scale of 1:200.000 and larger;
  • Research in the field of engineering geology;

Research includes the following:

  • Soil and substrate description, sampling and monolith selection, field identification of soil and substrate properties;
  • Survey and certification of various on-shore structures;
  • Stationary laboratory investigation of soil composition, state and properties including their grain-size classification, density, moisture content, plasticity, content of organic substances, deformability and strength;
  • Office studies (processing, interpretation, summarizing and back up of research data)

- collection and generalization of data from previously performed investigations;

- complex processing and interpretation of field materials;

- Mapping, making up of block maps and sections using software;

All works are supported by sampling tools, geophysical equipment and proper technologies developed in the Sevmorgeo company.
